When a child is born into a Christian family, it is tradition to have the child Christened. This simply means that the family is giving the child a name and admitting him or her into the Christian church. This can be a family only ceremony or one that involves the entire church. Whichever it is, the child generally needs a Christening outfit. Girls Christening clothes are usually gowns while boys christening clothes are usually rompers, body suits, or knickers with vests. Both can have Christening outfit accessories such as socks, shoes, bibs, blankets, and jewelry. This is a very joyous occasion for families and normally entails a Blessing over the child.
